140 years of Schulman
The oldest coin auction of the Netherlands has been around for 140 years. The name Schulman has become well known in the field of numismatics all over the world. In 1880, founder Jacob Schulman (1849 – 1936) published his first numismatic publication. For years, the family business was passed on from father to son. In 2006, Schulman was taken over by Eddy Absil and John Saunders. Every year, three auctions are held! The auctions focus on Dutch coins (medieval, Low Countries, provincial, kingdom, colonial and Dutch East India Company), banknotes, medals and Jetons.
Very special issue
The obverse of the special coincard in nostalgic design depicts Jacques Schulman (grandson of founder Jacob Schulman). With a magnifying glass in his hand, he evaluates a collection of medals. The coincard contains an original silver 5 guilder cent coin from the period 1850-1887*, the years in which Schulman b.v. became first active. The extraordinary coin depicts the portrait of King William III to the right. William III ruled the Netherlands from 1849 until 1890.
*It is not possible to determine beforehand which year you will receive because all issues of this coin are only available in small amounts. Because of the high demand, the numismatic coincard is limited to 1 per person.
