Occupation and liberation are brought together in this special set in which you find historic coins and commemorative coins from the guilder- and the euro age and also depicts the portraits of queens Wilhelmina, Juliana and Beatrix. This set creates a very special numismatic tribute to freedom throughout the years and should not be missed in your collection!

Resistance in Silver
The coin “Wilhelmina in Londen” is a replica of an unofficial guilder coin that was adapted during the resistance. On the adaptation Wilhelmina wore a helmet and the existing inscription “WILHELMINA KONINGIN DER NEDERLANDEN” was partly scratched off and edited so it read “WILHELMINA …………..IN …. …………...LONDEN”. To compare you will also find an original 1 guilder from 1940 in the set.

Between 1941 and 1944 only zinc coins were minted in the Netherlands. During the German occupation the production of Silver coins was continued, to a limited extent, in America. The original “rijksdaalder” (2 ½ guilders coin) from 1943 depicts the letter “D”, for “Denver”, the letter ‘D’ is the mint mark (sign) of the American mint in Denver in the state of Colorado, USA (U.S. Mint Denver) The letter ‘D’ is at the bottom right between the Coat of Arms and the last letter ‘N’ of the ‘NETHERLANDS’. In addition, there is also a mint master mark in the form of a palm tree on this “rijksdaalder”. The letter can be found between the crowned Coat of Arms of the Netherlands and the letter 'M' from 'MUNT' and belongs to Dr. J.W.A. van Hengel.
