Belgium 50 Euro Coin 2020 “Jan van Eyck - Gothic” Gold Proof

For the design of the gold issue the Royal Mint of Belgium unanimously chose for Van Eyck’s most prestigious masterpiece: the “Adoration of the Mystic Lamb”. On the obverse, the most striking detail from the lower middle panel is shown: the bleeding lamb or the personification of Jesus, the Son of God, sacrificing his life to redeem mankind from sin. The reverse of the gold 50 euro coin depicts the map of Europe in a large, pentagonal star, with the year, value and the country indication in three languages.
