Golden Ducats

The Dutch Golden Ducat has become one of the most important trade coins in the world. Its reliable weigh and content has given the Golden Ducat a good reputation over the centuries. The Golden Ducat was gladly accepted in Scandinavia, Poland and Russia and was also frequently used in trade with Asia.

The Royal Dutch Mint has launched two series of Silver Ducats. "The Twelve Provinces" is the first series. In this series, an important historical figure from one of the twelve provinces of the Netherlands is central to each issue. In the second series, "Dutch Castles", each issue contains one of the impressive castles in the Netherlands.
