Special Launch DateThe issue in honour of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations goes on sale on 15 August 2020. This day has a special meaning. On 15 August 1945, Japan capitulated and the Second World War officially ended worldwide. The former Dutch East Indies were liberated on this day, while the Netherlands already celebrated their freedom on 5 May. To commemorate the special date, the National Remembrance 15 August 1945 takes place at the Indies Monument in The Hague.
The United Nations
The countries in the United Nations (UN) aim to maintain international peace and security. The UN was therefore established after the end of the Second World War. On 24 October 2020, the Netherlands celebrate the 75th anniversary of the UN in The Hague. The celebration will close the national celebration of 75 years of freedom in the Netherlands, which began in 2019 in Terneuzen.
