• Special 2-euro coin in honor of the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellaan.
• Magellaan was the leader of the first sailing voyage around the world in 1519.
• He did not make it to the end of the expedition: in 1521 he was killed in a fight in the Philippines.
