Theme Set 2020

The Royal Dutch Mint Theme Set is centred around the Dutch Royals. The set annually celebrates milestones from the lives of the Royal family. Marriages, state visits, Royal births and birthdays, and special public appearances are depicted in the sets. The issue is a highlight for coin collectors.

Theme Set 2020
The Dutch Royal family plays an important and connecting role in the celebration of 75 years of freedom in the Netherlands. In the Theme Set of 2020, we will depict some important events and commemorations from the theme year. We highlight the visit of the Royal couple to the former concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau and the memorable Remembrance of the Dead on the empty Dam in Amsterdam. The impressive pictures of the Royal couple and the background information in the luxurious packaging create a memorable Theme Set 2020.
 
Design
In the Theme Set you will find all eight shiny Dutch euro coins of 2020 in BU-quality. A special silver plated commemorative issue is included in the set as well. On the obverse of the issue a dove of peace is depicted with an olive branch. The olive branch is an ancient symbol which stands for peace, reconciliation and hope. In three circles, the lines “75 jaar vrijheid” (75 years of freedom), “Geef vrijheid door” (pass on freedom), and the year 2020 can be found. “Pass on freedom” is the central theme of the celebration of 75 years of freedom in the Netherlands. It invites people to commit to the values of freedom.
 
On the reverse a map of the Netherlands is found. The Dutch national anthem, “Wilhelmus”, is written all over the map in micro text. In the year that physically seperates us, national anthems are important connectors. With the use of innovative technique the national anthem is spread all over the Netherlands. The exclusive issue pays tribute to the Remembrance of the Dead on 4 May and the 75 years of freedom anniversary year.
