Belgium may be a small country, but with over 11.6 million inhabitants on 30,688 km2, they are a true festival mecca. In our country, they know better than anyone how to organise a good festival. Tomorrowland, Pukkelpop, Rock Werchter: these are just some of the famous Belgian festivals. Besides these big names, there are also dozens of smaller festivals. In short: plenty of choice for the festival fan! And tickets for the coming festival season are already in great demand.
The festival valhalla of Europe
Where a small country can be big! Belgium has undisputedly the most (music) festivals per inhabitant in the world. And they are not the least important either: the absolute world's top artists love coming to Belgium and attract a wide and international audience. By comparison: in 1985, the first edition of Pukkelpop lasted one day and music lovers could enjoy all kinds of music genres for just 400 Belgian francs. In 2023, Pukkelpop will last no less than four days and the biggest artists will come to perform for some 80,000 visitors. Perhaps a little less enjoyable, but in addition to the number of visitors, the ticket price has also gone up....
All over the world, fans highly appreciate the typical Belgian festival culture. And not only internationally, but Belgians themselves also like to visit a festival. It is the perfect way to connect young and old and put our country well on the map. Belgium is widely praised for its special Festival culture: enough reason to dedicate a 2½ euro to it!
A resounding 2½ euro coin
In 'accessible' coincard packaging
On the front of this, a hand rises up making the 'rock on' gesture, surrounded by concert speakers, musical notes, a guitar, equaliser at the bottom and the map of Belgium in the background. Below the guitar the text: BELGIAN FESTIVAL CULTURE. The coin side shows the usual graphic elements such as the value, the year and the European map. A colourful and cheerful festival-inspired coincard packaging provides the finishing touch. The coincard in which the coin is encased shows various festival wristbands that are usually used as festival entry tickets and collected by many (around the arm). The reverse shows colourful festival elements.
