Maple Leafs have been minted by the Royal Canadian Mint since 1979. They became an alternative to the Krugerrands, which were difficult to obtain at the time due to economic boycotts.

Maple Leafs are among the best-known gold investment coins and are recognized and accepted worldwide. The coins are minted from pure gold, i.e. with a fineness of 999.9/1000.

The Maple Leaf has undergone a number of design adjustments over the years. However, Canada's national symbol, the maple leaf, and the British head of state - as Monachy of Canada - can always be found on the coins.

The coins are supplied with a random year, starting from 1983.
