“Scheepjesschelling” 2024 Silver

The ‘Scheepjesschelling’ is a Dutch shilling that was minted to emphasize the status of the Dutch Republic. This shilling was especially popular with the trading in the East. Therefore it was given the name ‘Scheepjesschelling’. Every year, the Royal Dutch Mint strikes popular trade coins, such as the ‘Scheepjesschelling’. In 2024, we mint a restrike of the ‘Scheepjesschelling’ from Gelderland, which was minted in 1706.
