About 75 years of freedom

The Netherlands will celebrate 75 years of freedom in 2019 and 2020. The anniversary year of 75 years of freedom was officially inaugurated in Terneuzen on 31 August 2019 by HM King Willem-Alexander. The ringing of a historic bell buoy heralded a year of commemorations and celebrations. The final piece of 75 years of freedom is the celebration of 75 years of the United Nations (UN) in The Hague on October 24, 2020.

In honour of the celebration, the Royal Dutch Mint presents the 75 years of freedom jewel in addition to the official commemorative coin (which is minted on behalf of the Ministry of Finance). The beautiful Silver pendant symbolises the 75 years that the Netherlands lives in freedom and was designed by silversmith Marileen van Koelen.
