Description
It's as good as spring! Literally, the word 'spring' is an ancient derivative of 'long': the days are getting longer and there is more sunlight! But it is also related to German 'Lenz' and English 'Lent' which denotes Lent. Lent ends with Easter and what better way to celebrate such a festive season than with appropriate coins and banknotes.
Our shop is temporarily replenished with a very original coin in the shape of an Easter egg. The obverse shows a Pysanky egg. After the Ukrainian verb pysaty, meaning "to write", and writing then refers to complex geometric and floral motifs. One of the original stories states that Pysanky eggs are used to celebrate the return of sunshine after a long winter. Thus the ideal spring gift!
