Unique Royal Delft coin holder
The Ducaton 2023 of the Royal Dutch Mint is, as always, presented in the traditional earthenware by Royal Delft. This year, the coin holder is completely about the Girl with a Pearl Earring, a painting by Johannes Vermeer. The Ducaton was also a means of payment in the time of Vermeer. In 2023, the Rijksmuseum will be dedicating an exhibition to the 17th-centry master for the first time in their history. Other museums also adapted their exhibitions to Johannes Vermeer. Also, a program can be watched on television, which will zoom in on some missing paintings by the artist. The Royal Dutch Mint also pays attention to this ‘Year of Johannes Vermeer’. The Ducaton 2023 will be released in a fitting coin holder.
