Silver Coins
Since the beginning of our era, silver has been used for decorations and means of payment. Silver was used in the past as coins, because the metal has a number of favorable properties. Another coin by the Royal Dutch Mint in silver is the Lion Dollars. From 1575 the Lion Dollar was produced in the province of Holland, in particular to facilitate export. Shortly after the introduction, Leeuwendaalders were also issued by six of the seven Dutch provinces and some of the major cities.
