This year marks the 20th anniversary of the city center of Bruges as world heritage site. To celebrate this glorious moment properly, the Royal Mint of Belgium initiated to issue a silver commemorative coin with the appropriate value of… 20 euros!
The obverse of this brand new commemorative coin is inspired by the official birthday logo which – especially for his Unesco-recognition – was designed by the city of Bruges and on which Luc Luycx, the in-house engraver at the Royal Mint of Belgium, further improvised in close association with the city itself. A stylized image of the majestic Belfry of Bruges adorns it.
