Theme Set 2023

The Theme Set of the Royal Dutch Mint is entirely devoted to the Dutch Royal Family. This special coin set is issued annually and celebrates the milestones in the lives of the members of the Royal Family. Weddings, state visits, special public appearances, crown anniversaries and births are featured in this very popular issue among collectors.
 
Theme Set 2023
A special milestone for Dutch King Willem-Alexander in 2023 is in the center of the newest Theme Set. The King is celebrating his 10^th anniversary on the throne. In 2013, the then Queen Beatrix announced her abdication in a TV speech. On April 30 of that year, the Prince succeeds his mother as head of state. He wants to give substance to his Kingship in a contemporary and modern way. During 10 years of monarchy, King Willem-Alexander has shown himself to be an involved and compassionate monarch, with a broad focus on social projects, innovative companies and personal situations.  
 
Design
The Theme Set 2023 is all about the 10 years of Kingship of Dutch King Willem-Alexander. You can read more about the 10^th anniversary on the packaging. The front side of the packaging contains a picture of King Willem-Alexander with Queen Máxima on the day of the inauguration.
 
Besides all eight Dutch euro coins of 2023, the set also contains a special medal, designed for this jubilee. The obverse shows the portrait of King Willem-Alexander during his inauguration. Above the portrait is the text “10 years King Willem-Alexander”. On the reverse of the medal, the Coat of Arms of the Netherlands is shown. Above is the date of the inauguration: 30-04-2013 and below is the date of the 10^th anniversary, 30-04-2023.
