80 Years of Tom and Jerry Multiview Medal in Coincard

The most famous cat and mouse are without a doubt Tom and Jerry. In 2020, they celebrate their 80^th birthday. In 1940, the first cartoon with the comical duo was aired on American television. The short clips show the frustrating attempts of Tom trying to catch Jerry. A true cat-and-mouse game in which the music and sound effects contribute to the humor and action. Together Tom and Jerry even won seven Academy Awards for Best Animated Short Film. You cannot have one without the other. That is why the Royal Dutch Mint brings them together on this comical issue. The film in honour of their 80^th birthday is expected in March 2021.

The colourful coincard depicts the mischievous two. The playful issue is very special. The innovative multiview technique makes it possible that the obverse depicts not one, but two individual images which are only visible from a certain angle. Tilt the issue to one side, and you will see Tom, and tilt it to the other side to reveal Jerry! The reverse shows the Tom and Jerry anniversary logo. A festive issue for a festive occasion!
